I can't with this book.
Okay, so her name is "Faythe" which, I guess, isn't her fault. She's a werecat, and a female, which is extremely rare, so her dad is very protective of her, which she resents. She's yanked out of grad school by her dad who is panicking because one of the other eight female werecats on the continent has been murdered.
And, you can see why societies might be pretty concerned about their females if they were in that short of supply (although if you want species survival, they'd better be tremendously fertile) except that you can also create all the male werecats you want by biting a human.
Except, in this book, bitten werecats are outcasts, and no one wants to have one in their clan. Um. What? How have you guys survived until now? I mean, maybe every lady werecat is having hundreds of babies, …

Except, in this book, bitten werecats are outcasts, and no one wants to have one in their clan. Um. What? How have you guys survived until now? I mean, maybe every lady werecat is having hundreds of babies, but otherwise, I'm really confused about how your species is even still around.
And if bitten werecats are feral, and the clans are not supposed to bite people, then the only people doing the biting are going to the ferals, and I'm pretty sure the ferals are going to outnumber you fast enough that the ferals are going to create their own societies, and you guys are going to become a weird minority that no one cares about pretty quickly.
Back to "Faythe" (I can't). She's really the worst, and I have no patience for her. At one point, she actually says (and this is a paraphrase, because the stupid book is DRMed and I can't c&p, and can't be bothered to transcribe the whole thing) "Stop treating me like a child!" and then slams her way into her bedroom.
There's also a part early on where "Faythe" makes fun of one of her roommates for their harping on about 'feminism' and 'the patriarchy' which makes more sense when you realize that "Faythe" thinks independence means using your dad's money to major in whatever you want, and being an adult means lying to your boyfriend about your family in a different way than your dad wants you to.
So, uh, I'm not finishing this book.
