Note: This book has much of the feel of a "bodice ripper" romance novel (popular in the late 70's and into the 80's). This type of book is usually loved or hated with little in between - which is why I am posting this note. Most of the men are forceful in their will and rather callous, regardless of how the woman feels or how strong her spirit may be. There is some physical abuse and non-consensual intercourse by various male characters and to varying degrees. The scenes are not overly descriptive, however, and most are fairly brief. The attitude of the men is probably accurate for the time period, but for those who are sensitive to such scenes or just don't like books where a woman is forced to do things and/or submit to a man, this book is likely not for you.
