3.5 stars out of 5
Doubting if I will round this up to 4. Maybe. It would be a round up to 4 but I HATE reset buttons in movies or books.
The books is very well-written as always with Seanan McGuire. She uses cheap tricks, the easiest and lowest of the low and easy to broadcast that impeding sense of doom that keeps you hooked while reading. She does that absolutely well, even though it feels cheap.

But nobody did (except for the kid, which I didn't really care for because she barely had any real screentime. Just a mcguffin really.) and instead we get the reset button. It left a really bad taste in my mouth. I felt cheated.
But I know Seanan's writing by now. The next book will make up for it, probably :-D

Rounding up to 4 stars, she deserves it, reset button or no (it's fixed in the next two books).
