I read murder, torture, monsters, SA and don't require an TW, but this book found my weak spot. lol

Lennox is dealing with integrating back into civilian life and being out of the closet (sort of). He is very self-contained and private. So what does Ash do, right after Lennox goes out on a limb and admits he isn't comfortable with the situation, but walk right into his personal space and kiss him. As one would assume Lennox makes a run for it and doesn't come back around for several weeks.

Now I have a very strong personal space and I felt myself recoil when reading this scene, and then get seriously pissed off when Ash has the audacity to be annoyed Lennox disappears! Not only is Ash personally offended Lennox didn't love his kiss- that he never asked for and gave all kinds of signs he didn't …

This author tends to be hit or miss to me, but this was a definite hit! I read A LOT of shifter books and some omegaverse, and this book was completely unique to me. I mean, yea same old alpha- dominant/omega-submissive, but the world was different. I'm impressed. The characters were clear and I liked them both. The supporting cast lovely and provided lots of grins.
There are just a few reasons this didn't have a five star. 1.The emotional back and forth was somewhat jarring. The MC was happy, they were angry, they were fine from instant to instant. 2. There were more than its fair share of info dumps, but for such an interesting world I was happy enough to take them in. 3. In the dramatic (story) climax there's a scene where MC2 behaves so far out of character it really took me out of the exciting …

This is the fluffiest disturbing book I've ever read. Honestly, I quite enjoyed it. My only real problem with the story was when Silas was raped by the vampires and Dean commented how strong Silas is because he brushes off the rape like it never happened. I get this is a pretend story, but just had to say I don't like this precedent.
Other than that, this was an adorable light read - please check the tws!

My god was this book amazing! It literally has everything:
~hurt/comfort
~swoon worthy romance
~well paced relationship growth
~action and suspense
~all the feels
~emotional healing
~fully formed MCs
~adorable secondary characters
~POC characters
~brings the heat!
I cannot recommend this book enough.

One of the best things about this book, honestly there are so many, but one I was exceptionally impressed with - was the way the author was able to show Silas growing stronger in himself/taking care of himself and his alpha, while still showing how he needed Bear. Of course Bear needed him too, but I find it's a difficult line for writer of hurt/comfort stories to walk sometimes. Kudos to Emily!
