@tofuwabohu@wyrms.de yeah, when someone asked about the more than 1 name per person thing i wanted to look up an example and found “A Listing of Persons, Places, Things, and Gods”, properly recorded in the TOC and at the very end, as one should expect. 😄

the usual fantasy-racism and sexism with a bit of homomisia sprinkled in. the author should just have written the novel in 19th century europe, the fantasy aspect is rarely used at all.
the book seems to want me to have sympathy with an absolutist ruler. 🙄 and what's up with all these different names, and sometimes more than one name for one person? feels like there were a hundred or so names used. oof! and then there are perfectly translatable concepts that are left in some kind of elven language, and sometimes the characters speak really old english? why?!?
at least the story itself is somewhat interesting and has potential, but i'm not gonna read the next books.

I'm ever thirsting for stories with older/elder female or genderqueer role models and feeling so grateful for two main characters that rock: Because of how they live their relationship, their way of living with nonhuman beings, their being active in community, struggles against the state, dealing with trauma - because of the way Ash and Pinar simply are.
I liked the story and the educational parts about what it means to constantly have to deal with trans-hate, but also the entertaining ones about queer animals or the ones about plant remedies, or what murmurations are.
Time travel and neurodiverse time concepts are brought together, thus opening my understandings of time.
It's one of those books that make it difficult to leave the story and that make me miss the the characters.
