The fourth book of the Chronicles of Prydain, in which Taran is now reaching adulthood and realizing he's in love with Princess Elionwy, but feels he needs to learn who his parents truly are before he can consider asking her to marry him. So off he goes and spends the whole book traveling and learning who he is as well as learning how to be self-sufficient as a farmer, smith, weaver, and potter. This book is Taran's quests in multiple ways, not just to learn who his parents are but also to learn what it means to work hard and be a good man, and in the end he still has no idea who his parents actually are, but he has learned who HE is and what is the value of hard work as compared to an inherited name.
