4 stars
Amazing sequel. Includes a lot more use of the magic system then the first book. Similar levels of sex/gore to the first book.

Kylar Stern has rejected the assassin's life. In the wake of the Godking's violent coup, both his master and his closest friend are dead. His friend was Logan Gyre, heir to Cenaria's throne, but few of the ruling class survive to mourn his loss. So Kylar is starting over: new city, new companions, and new profession. But when he learns that Logan might be alive, trapped and in hiding, Kylar faces an impossible choice. He could give up the way of shadows forever, and find peace with his young family. Or Kylar could succumb to his flair for destruction, the years of training, to save his friend and his country - and lose all he holds precious.
Amazing sequel. Includes a lot more use of the magic system then the first book. Similar levels of sex/gore to the first book.
Good book. More importantly, the prediction I made at the end of book one was right.
Damn it, giving it a four star rating besides the overall plot:
Kylar dies, everyone is raped except Elene whom faces a near-death rape experience, Kylar dies, all other women are raped again, Elene is trapped but helped, Logan does some shit, Elene is captured by soldiers looking for virgins, raped whores are heroes, Kylar dies.
Rape somewhere else.
Logan wins but loses. Durzo is dead but lives. Still, I couldn't put the book down. On to the next!
I wasn't has happy with this book as I was with the first one. I feel like the author was trying to broaden his characters, but the depth didnt seem to fit. I still enjoyed his depiction of his villains, but the ending fell a little flat for me. All in all it was a decent book, but I dont know if I will be picking up the next book in the series.
