Khai Diep has no feelings. Well, he feels irritation when people move his things or contentment when ledgers balance down to the penny, but not big, important emotions—like grief. And love. He thinks he’s defective. His family knows better—that his autism means he just processes emotions differently. When he steadfastly avoids relationships, his mother takes matters into her own hands and returns to Vietnam to find him the perfect bride. As a mixed-race girl living in the slums of Ho Chi Minh City, Esme Tran has always felt out of place. When the opportunity arises to come to America and meet a potential husband, she can’t turn it down, thinking this could be the break her family needs. Seducing Khai, however, doesn’t go as planned. Esme’s lessons in love seem to be working…but only on herself. She’s hopelessly smitten with a man who’s convinced he can never return her affection. …

The climax is a bit unrealistic even for someone who is dreamy and romantic.
Except for this, the story is beautiful.

Fifty shades of grey - too much drama and lot of sex
Anna and the french kiss, Fangirl, Nicholas sparks books - too much drama, juvenile love and no sex
Aristotle and Dante discover the secret of universe - extremely beautiful story, emotional and no sex
Relationships in Haruki Murakami books - sick, kind of beautiful and sex

But then Helen Hoang's books - whoa! the perfect amount of emotions, drama and sex.
As "Nancy Meyers" is to romantic movies, "Helen Hoang" is to adult romance novels.

More than the novel I loved the epilogue. Her dedication of this book to her mom is very beautiful.

This story moved me, and im not used to rate romance 5 stars, but i just loved the characters so much, Esme/Mý is such an icon, resilient and kind, baby girl cutie who deserves the world.. And Khai ofc too, he was a breath of fresh air and felt so real and developped as a character. From the main romance to the side characters, this book had so much heart, i felt it deep, even the author's note got tears welling up into my eyes (not sad tears) when she mentioned her own mother and experience..
It packed a solid punch into a 296 pages book, for all these reasons that's a 5^^
