knizer reviewed It Will All Hurt by Farel Dalrymple
Review of 'It Will All Hurt' on 'Goodreads'
4 stars
Farel's storytelling shows us a beautifully rendered world populated with unique characters. Decidedly not a straight story where the protagonist goes from A to B. This is more a surreal and sometimes unexpectedly violent dream.
If you are unfamiliar with Dalrymple from other works, and are unaccustomed to other pieces of media that intentionally push the audience to say 'wait - what?' (cough cough David Lynch, Jim Woodring) with weird narratives paired with 'whoa' visuals, you're going to have an extra weird time. The original Pop Gun War hooked me for life; Wrenchies might be a more easy to read narrative. Recommend digesting this in one sitting.
