Incredibly awesome magic system, which the protagonist cannot use. Most of sanderson's works are about the select few who have magic, such as mistborn and stormlight archive, but this is a refreshing change from that, where the protagonist is just a normal person.

Despite being teen fiction, is a great book as an adult as well.
