I first heard about Solanin through a Tumblr post of a single frame of the city from the series. The sketches are excellent, either when subtly combining photographs and sketches or even on their own merit. I loved their brightness and clarity, very refreshing from other comics/manga I've read recently. The moment Meiko first strums Taneda's guitar will forever give me goosebumps. Exquisite visual storytelling.
The story is, in its apparent simplicity, deeply human. Taking life in your own hands even if you're not certain what you want to do with it. Sometimes it's enough to know what is it that you don't want.
