pithypants reviewed Unthinkable by Jamie Raskin

I'm convinced that Jamie Raskin is one of the truly good humans who got into politics for pubic service. I have yet to see him come down on the wrong side of an issue I feel passionately about. He first came onto my radar during a cross-faith event with Rev. Barber at a synagogue in NW DC where the focus was (I think) racial justice. He impressed me with his words then and with this book he both impressed me and moved me.
This is the story of two horrors he endured, both deeply personal for different (and surprisingly overlapping) reasons: the unexpected death of his son Tommy and the Jan 6 insurrection. This book was equal parts a father's memoir, a crash course on constitutional law from a professor, and a behind-the-scenes look at what took place on Jan 6.
