Despite the Dead in the title, this is not a murder mystery. And Staying Dead doesn't refer to either vampires or zombies. It's urban fantasy, which is to say that there's a smart woman with magical powers involved in danger and derring-do. In this case, she's a thief--excuse me, a retriever. She and her business partner Sergei retrieve stolen objects for the rightful owners. The explanation of magic is internally consistent enough for suspension of disbelief. Plenty of sexual tension between the "business partners", too. It was fun and suspenseful, and I'm going to read the next one in the series.
