Amazing, to put between everyone's hands, the graphic format is used very well to capture Iran's history through the autobiographical lens of the author

The cover intrigued me a lot, and the story about this young woman, Abitha (whom I loved), getting witchy, tasting power and freedom from a small village judging community was very cool, but a lot of page time went to mediocre and abusive men, and I get why they were here for, but the payout didn't feel long enough lol (also we have a very mysterious god/deity that gets entangled with Abitha's life)

Honestly I flew through this and I'm very surprised by how much i enjoyed the book, i never read from this author bc i have a big dislike of authors emphatizing how their love interest is "big"(and all the other synonyms), but this one is supposedly tamer on that aspect, and miss Ali do really have a good thing going on, bc i was rooting for the characters and i had so much fun reading it, recommend to anyone interested in contemporary romance

Very good debut, I enjoyed the gothic atmosphere mixed with a fantasy concept centered around cards, magic, a deadly mist, I also liked the characters, side characters too, and the plot unfurled quite well, will read book 2 of course^^

Omg forgot to mention I love the Venom in the head type of trope

3.5, honestly was not reading this quickly despite its shortness, but if you loved the these violent delights series you will eat this up, bc the characters moments were so cuuuute, it was like a semi filler episode, not essential but cute (with a connecting thread between the 2 novellas)

Jennifer Lynn Barnes: Brothers Hawthorne (2023, Little, Brown Books for Young Readers) 4 stars

3.5 I like what the author did with the explorations of Jameson and Grayson as characters, with their lives, their feelings, their family, though I did feel the transition from one POV to the other jarring, and it was a bit long too, I'm curious about the next installment !
