Not sure I'm up for the rest of it. For some reason, this was a slog for me. The characters were good, the plot was solid. Good world building.
Maybe it's there were too many characters and I often felt like I was missing context. And it was way too easy to get distracted by other books.
It wrapped up pretty well in the end, with a good setup for a sequel, but I kinda feel like it could have about 20% shorter and been a better novel. Tighter.

Fun cozy mystery
5 stars
Retired detective gets a retirement gift of a writing retreat set in Tuscany. Unfortunately, his buddies didn't read the fine print (Or they did and they're pulling a prank) because the retreat is geared to writers of erotic fiction. Of course, when one of the members of the retreat ends up murdered, the local Commissario asks for our protagonist's help with all the English-speakers.
Fun, good characters, and a dog. Can't beat a cozy set in Tuscany that includes a dog, right?
