It’s a good book to get an overview but Attenborough delivers a very white, distanced, and somewhat hypocritical and racist point of view on what should be done next.
He speaks a lot to how people should eat less meat but then remarks that he himself only eats less accidentally. If you’re going to make a huge point about people needing to do something less and then don’t even do it yourself that’s not great. I’m not saying he needs to be vegan but at least actively reduce your meat consumption if you’re preaching that as the way forward to the world.
He also speaks a lot about how developing countries need to stop destroying the last natural reserves and doesn’t really go into how deeply unfair it is that we (the western world) got to destroy nature here and benefit from that and now others have to be better …

A bigger focus should be placed on how we as the western world should pay countries for keeping natural reserves because that’s only fair.

If was a good book but I keep feeling like sind things are off. I feel like Max's reactions in this are kinda weird. Like she lost Leon before but there isn't one reference to that? Generally I feel like since Max moved universe the books kinda just act like that didn't happen. I don't know why but it bothers me a lot

I loved the book. But there's an enormous plot hole.
Sands is hit over the head and unconscious with a head wound and Max just never questions it? They just go one to rescue the others and when they find Schiller missing they still don't question it? Even once they're back no one ever talks about that. The pod Sands was in must've also had cameras. How did no one think to check what happened to Sands and how he acquired a head wound? How was no one suspicious?
